Stabilise cracked walls effectively, ensuring strength and controlled movement for lasting results
When a wall cracks, it is no longer structurally one wall. It is two walls close to each other, able to move independently, but unable to share loads across the crack. Bar Flex can be used to stitch across a crack to reconnect the two sides.
A common mistake with cracked walls is to only fill the cracks. This prevents the crack from closing and can lead to further cracking.
Another mistake is to use a rigid material like rebar to stitch a crack. This stops natural building movement and will move the crack to another Location.
By contrast, Bar Flex works with the building rather than against it by allowing some controlled Movement.
Crack stitching is not a structural repair and should only be used on cracks that are not actively worsening.
Solid crack repair starts with good advice! During our first visit, we will assess the cause of the cracks in your façade together with you. Based on our findings, we will create a non-binding repair plan with an associated quote, detailing what needs to be done and how we will proceed.
Target Fixings has over 20 years of experience in developing, producing, and installing crack repair systems. Our Bar Flex and Bond Flex system offers the flexibility needed to accommodate any movement in the masonry.
Before installation, some horizontal joints are grooved, after which the Bar Flex bars are fixed using the Bond Flex anchoring mortar. After a few days, the joints can be sealed with any desired mortar, making your wall almost invisible after repair.
