Stabilize and secure bulging façades before minor damage becomes a major structural problem
While bulging walls may appear similar to bowing walls, they are fundamentally different. Bowing walls curve outward as a whole, often due to ground pressure. Bulging walls, however, usually involve the outer layer moving independently from the inner structure. This separation can compromise the entire wall’s integrity.
Cavity insulation issues
Excessively pressured insulation installation can damage or dislodge metal wall ties, leading the outer wall to bulge.
Failed wall ties and wind pressure
In older buildings, rusted or broken wall ties combined with wind pressure can cause the outer wall to move outward.
Old rubble-filled walls
Settling rubble and moisture infiltration in traditional walls can create internal pressure, resulting in visible bulges.
Poor brickwork in thicker walls
In walls approximately 13 inches thick, improper bonding with broken bricks can cause the outer layer to separate if the mortar deteriorates.
A proper repair starts with a thorough assessment. Our specialists will visit your property, identify the cause of the bulging, and propose a non-binding repair plan, including a detailed quote and explanation of the repair method.
Target Fixings uses over 20 years of experience to provide tailored, reliable solutions. Depending on the cause, we can restore structural integrity using techniques like cavity wall tie replacement, anchoring systems, or other reinforcement methods developed and produced in-house.
We used HeliPile foundation piles to stabilize a sinking extension, reinforcing the walls to prevent further damage. Pile tests can often determine if they have sufficient load-bearing capacity.
