The Challenge
In August 2015, we were asked to survey a property in London. The client had identified cracking on the recently built extension, corresponding to further cracking internally. The property had been previously repaired by a third party but there were difficulties as the mortar joints did not line up from where the extension was built.
To further complicate the issue, the property had a cellar, which meant that the extension was likely built on made-ground and was rotating away from the original property. In addition, a drain running along the length of the extension meant that groundworks were potentially difficult
