Fixing Bowing Walls on a Timber Framed Building

Method Statement

1. Check for obstructions around joists such as wiring and plumbing.
2. Locate and mark the positions of joists on the external wall.
3. Drill clearance hole through masonry in line with the centre of the joists.
4. Ensure that the holes line up with the end of the joists.
5. Blow out the hole to clear any dust or debris.
6. Place the Bow Flex power support tool over the Bow Flex and drive the tie into the timber for the required depth
7. Inject Polyester Resin or Bond Flex into the hole to completely fill it.
8. Make good at the surface of all holes and leave ready for any decoration

Guidelines

A. Clearance hole to be 12 mm
B. Minimum penetration into the end grain of timber to be 50 mm.
C. Each joist going into the wall, or is meant to go in the wall, in the area of concern is to be secured with a Bow Flex (ie. spacing of Bow Flex is to correspond with the original joist spacing)
