Fixing Bowing Walls (Side Grain)

Method Statement

1. Locate and mark the positions of joists on the external wall. Check for obstacles such as wiring or plumbing
2. Drill a clearance hole through masonry in line with the centre of the joists heights
3. Ensure that the holes line up with the joists and continue to drill through the first joist
4. Vacuum out the hole to clear any dust or debris
5. Place the Bow Flex power support tool over the Bow Flex, and drive the tie into the timber for the required depth
6. Inject Polyester Resin or Bond Flex into the hole to completely fill it
7. Make good at the surface of all holes and leave ready for any decoration

Guidelines

A. Clearance hole is 12 mm
B. Minimum penetration into the end grain of timber to be 50 mm.
C. Each joist going into the wall, or is meant to go into the wall, in the area of concern is to be secured with a Bow Flex (ie. spacing of Bow Flex is to correspond with the original joist spacing)
