1. Rake out or cut slots into horizontal mortar joints
2. Use power/hand chisel to continue slots up to internal corner
3. Vacuum out the slots and thoroughly flush with water
4. Where the slot ends at internal corner, drill hole into adjoining wall diagonally as shown
5. Vacuum out the holes to remove all dust and debris.
6. Cut Bar Flex to the required length (including hole) and bend the end to fit into the hole as shown
7. Either fill the hole with Polyester Resin or Bond Flex. Insert the bent end of the Bar Flex fully into the bonding agent and position the remainder of the Bar Flex in the slot
8. If using Polyester Resin, allow it to gel (typically 15-20 minutes)
9. Gently ease the Bar Flex out of the slot and insert a 10 mm depth bead of Bond Flex cementitious grout into the back of the slot. Push the first Bar Flex into the grout to obtain good coverage.
10. Insert a second 10 mm (approx) depth bead of Bond Flex over the exposed Bar Flex. Push the second Bar Flex into the bead of Bond Flex to obtain good even coverage.
11. Insert a third bead of Bond Flex over the exposed Bar Flex and iron into the slot using the finger trowel.
12. Point up the joint or fill and leave ready for any decoration.
13. Tie inner and outer leaves together using appropriate wall ties. Contact technical@targetfixings.com for details.
