Crack Stitching on a Corner (Random Stone Walls)

Method Statement

1. Rake out or cut slots into horizontal mortar joint
2. Vacuum out the slots and thoroughly flush with water
3. Using the Bond Flex gun kit, insert a bead of Bond Flex into the back of the slot
4. Push the Bar Flex reinforcement into the Bond Flex to obtain good coverage
5. Insert a bead of Bond Flex over the exposed Bar Flex and iron into the slot using the finger trowel
6. Point up or fill the joint and leave ready for any decoration

Guidelines

A. Depth of slot to be 25 to 45 mm
B. Normal vertical spacing between Bar Flex is 450 mm (6 brick courses)
C. Bar Flex to extend a minimum of 500 mm each side of the crack
D. Where a crack is within 500 mm of the end of a wall, the Bar Flex is to be continued for at least 100 mm around the corner and be bonded into the adjoining wall
