Repairing Bay Windows

Method Statement

Method Statement A

  1. Cracking continued to junction of bay with main wall
  2. Access available from inside building
  3. Use Cem Flex to stitch across crack (as indicated in CF02). This method will repair cracking but will not strengthen remainder of bay.

Method Statement B

  1. Cracking at junction of bay with main wall and at other corners of brickwork around the bay
  2. Access available from both inside and outside of building
  3. Use Cem Flex to stitch across crack (as indicated in CF02). This method will repair cracking but will not strengthen remainder of bay.
Guidelines

A. Method Statement A is to be used only where there is cracking at the junction of the bay window and main wall. Repair must be performed from inside the property.
B. Method Statement B includes further stitching at the other corners of the brickwork around the bay window. The additional repairs must be performed from outside the property.
C. These repairs will repair the cracking but will not strengthen the remainder of the bay.
D. Depending upon the condition of the masonry and the amount of damage that has occurred it may be necessary to insert Bar Flex around the whole bay (see BF·12) or to use Bow Flex to fix back to the floor/ceiling joists (see BO·03)
